RIGHTS OF THE VIH+ PEOPLE

1| Right to achieve social and sanitary advantages. Right of worthy pensions. Social and sanitary necessities of HIV+ people make urgent out of cost treatments. This would give a better quality of life to HIV+ people that have to have the same advantages as people with chronic diseases. The Government has to guarantee a pension's system that take care of people's true necessities, that can't work because of disease, with independence of the quoted years. Other pensions doesn't guarantee a quality of life.

2| Right to access to condoms. The price of the condoms has to be reduced, even the feminine, to available public prices, specially for the young population. They should be sold in more places and these selling points have to be controlled. Control of the quality of the condom.

3| Right to access to bank services and insurance. Bank institutions, insurance companies and others, violate people's rights when they ask for information about their serologic status before offering their services such as insurance, loans… and deny those services to HIV+ people.

4| Right to confidentiality. HIV+ people's confidentiality has to be assured in every aspects, from social to sanitary. In that last case, clinic information of the patients has to be kept.

5| Right to free circulation of the affected. Nowadays, a lot of countries deny admission and residence to HIV+ people or people who have AIDS. We demand the abolition of all these norms that violate Human Rights.

6| Right to an equal treatment in the sanitary field. Right to transplants. Patients with HIV/AIDS have to be treated as the rest, without discrimination. In that sense all the orders that stops HIV+ people from being receivers of future transplants have to be abolished.

7| International Solidarity. Best developed countries must collaborate actively to give medical assistance to other countries' people which are in the way to development and give support to prevention to avoid the expansion in Africa, Asia, Latin America and East Europe.

8| Right to die in dignity. When the end is near the patient has to have the right to die in dignity and the right to be treated with all the palliative treatments that exist nowadays.

9| Right to full equality in front of the law. Gay and lesbian people are still discriminated because we don't have the right to get married. When one o the two are HIV+ that can aggravate the discrimination (widower's pension, inheritances…)

10| Right to responsible Public Administrations. AIDS has created a critic situation in Spain, so we have to demand from Public Institutions:

  • More money to sanitary treatments for HIV/Aids.
  • More money on investigation.
  • More money for the prevention of the disease and campaigns of solidarity with HIV+ people.
  • A better co-ordination between different administrations.
  • More economic and technical support to non governmental organisations.
  • Better prevention campaigns.
  • Appropriate treatments due to the necessities of people who take drugs, and specially those who are in jail.
